The Resurrection of Records

Over the last decade technological advances, particularly with mobile music, have sidelined the purchases of physical albums, especially vinyls.

Many may find streaming music convenient, but there is still a culture of people who consider records more appealing due to sentiment, quality and the overall listening experience.

During recent years, records have made a huge comeback. The demographic triggering this rise in sales is not only nostalgic middle-aged parents, but young people under 35.

Records are an exchangeable appreciation between listeners and musicians. Records allow listeners to show gratitude for their favourite artist by investing in their album rather than streaming it online for free. An appreciation that the artist can experience as well, due to the loss of money with online streaming.

Below is a summary of the current findings on the rise of vinyl sales in recent years.
